Long synopsis
Althea and Penny find each other, and despite opposition, promise to be together forever. 17 years later, Australia is preparing to vote on same- sex marriage, but their relationship is strained. Pen struggles to hold it together, as she feels the distance growing between them. Unknown to Pen, Ali is having an affair.
One night, wondering where Ali is, Pen receives a phone call telling her that Ali has had a stroke. Pen rushes to the hospital and clashes with Sophia, Ali’s mother, about who has the right to determine Ali’s care. Pen asks their lawyer friend Dom for help. That night Ali’s lover Narvi visits the hospital and the two women meet. When Ali regains consciousness, there are gaps in her memory, lost moments between her present and her past, but Ali remembers Pen; and she remembers Narvi. While Australia is debating and then voting in support of same-sex marriage, Pen realises that Ali is in love with Narvi and tries to salvage their relationship.
In an attempt recapture their connection, Pen and Ali take a holiday to the scene of an earlier time to see if they can rewind time; to rewind love.
